KRAKOW STREET SCENES #2

Snapping people on streets is my favourite thing. Once again Krakow didn't disapppoint me. It's a city alive with opportunities for candid shots...

Seeing Polish newlyweds on the street is not so uncommon as we might think. I was told that the wedding party lasts (and the bride and groom remain) until the last guest leaves, usually until morning. Then, they go for the photo session on the streets in the Old City. It was amazing to me when I saw two pairs walking, very naturally, in the shopping district, followed by professional photographers. Nobody looked at them but I did...

I left them in their world... I knew I wouldn't have much free time on my hands and went on snapping whoever and whatever caught my eyes...

  1. Another wonderful collection of candid people shots, so many interesting characters!! I was really interested by all those padlocks on the bridge fence. Do you know what that is about?

    1. In fact, Krakow, is a haven for people like me who like to focus their camera on strangers. I wished I had had more free time to do it. As to the padlocks, that's a new trend among young or not so young lovers. They engrave padlocks with their names before fastening them to the bridge and throw the key into the Wisla. By doing it, they believe they seal their everlasting love. I have no idea how many they were but, without being exaggerated, I would say thousands and thousands...

    1. Thanks, Monica. Your question put a smile on my face... I never care what they think... In the case of women, perhaps they think they are beautiful whereas men may believe they are very handsome...

  5. Some fantastic shots! I was surprised to see the fence with all of the locks, there is a fence like that where I will soon be moving but they have keys instead!
I loved to see some of the fashion of the Polish.
It looked like the sign outside the restaurant said fish soup? and maybe it was October 18th?
I think it would be fun to see wedding couples on the street...

  6. Great candid photos of the couples. Would you consider becoming a wedding photographer? I'm only joking. It's great to be confident to photograph people as subjects.
