I was walking down a road in Devin vilage and thinking that I would better ignore the dead end to the left as there might not be anything interesting to see. When I noticed a church not very far away from where I was, I changed my mind. The closer I was getting, the sound of musical instruments became clearer and clearer. I continued down the road and there was a slope that flew down to a small square in front of which there was a church sitting in a nicely landscaped garden surrounded by an iron fence. Each iron gate was decorated with a bouquet.
Outside, many cars were parked, while others were continuously arriving. The guests attires, particularly the ladies', matched the formality of a special event. I assumed that all was appropriate for a wedding ceremony.
I didn't hesitate to go into through the gates and watch everything in detail. A trio was playing classical preludes. Very beautiful and so romantic...
It was very very hot and just before the church main entrance, guests were invited to have refreshments and cookies.
My curiosity took me into the church where some guests were sitting. I also wanted to take photos of the interior... the curiosity didn't kill the cat...
I saw flower petals to shower the bride and groom when they would walk back up the aisle together as husband and wife, while outside the church, two doves seemed to feel anxious to be released at the moment the newlyweds exited the church following the ceremony.
It was becoming late and I still had a long way to return back to the bus stop. I gave up waiting for the bride showing up, though I would like to have seen her.
Later on, I realized luck was on my side that day. I was at a beer garten just in front of the Devin Hotel when suddenly I noticed cars and cars running and parking before the hotel. At the entrance, a pair of scarecrow-like bride and groom dolls were standing... the hotel would be the venue for a wedding reception! Would it be the party after that ceremony? Yes, it was... I saw the bride and much more... lucky me!

Luckier was I when I had the opportunity to observe a Slovak tradition...
The wedding guests groupped around the entrance, with the bride and the groom at the front. A plate was broken, which the newlyweds had to sweep up. This symbolised their cooperation and working together as a couple. The bride had to be extra careful as she had to get all the broken pieces, which represented children that the groom might have outside of the marriage.
After that, the bride was carried into the hotel by her husband...
What happened next I don't know but, my imagination tells me there were many unique and interesting moments to be watched, like the placement of special hats on the new couple's heads, symbolizing they had become a lady and a gentleman.

The lovely marriage ceremony and concert in green. I have not seen such a lovely marriage ceremony. It is really beautiful and she is a bride of super beauty.
ReplyDeleteA marriage ceremony of Japan is mechanical and altogether the same.
Congratulations.<3
Yes, in Japan, wedding ceremonies and parties have nothing to do with the ones in the Western world...
DeleteThanks, Michiko!
You are much braver than I am, I would love to have gone in, but doubt I would have. I bet if the bride could see the top image she would want it! Fascinating customs. Beautiful images!
ReplyDeletePerhaps I am. I always take the risk and hope for the best. Glad you like the images.
DeleteHow nice that they let your photograph their special day. Wonderful shots!!
ReplyDeleteIn fact, I didn't ask permission, just walking around and taking photos, without being disturbed by anyone. Thanks, Mitch!

I did feel it, too. I had never seen before so many people wearing very high-heeled shoes - walking very naturally, I must add - not only at that wedding but also in the cities. Unbelievable to me!
