As the leaves were falling from the trees,
Mary watched them with joy
Trying to catch one with her hand,
While her husband, a gloomy man,
Turned his back on the charms of Nature
Concentrated he was on his pension plan.
Paul hadn't yet perceived that true joy
Is a cumulative emotion
A kind of an intense happiness
Built on itself over time, without a tool kit.
Would he ever be part of the joy of Life???
Mary had already got a chunky slice of it...

DeleteMary not only knows how to 'live' her life, but she also savors it in the simplicity of falling leaves.
ReplyDeletePaul on the other hand is not much more then a robot going thru life....such a pity!!

ReplyDeleteSometimes, my Muse co-operates...
DeleteI can tell you that my pension was the personification of joy, especially on Sunday evening when I know that the others are not looking forward to Monday morning. Good words and photo.
ReplyDeleteGood to know you feel happy. I see so many pensioners spending their days like waiting for the passing of the time...
DeleteMaybe it's the gender differences involved here, men and women have different experiences of joy perhaps, nice photo.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Belita. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shayna!
DeleteSince my pension plan is going away because of Italian government decisions, I now tend to be more concentrated to catch the falling leaves :)
ReplyDeleteMoney is not all in one's life... the little pleasures that Nature presents to us can make us be joyful people...
DeleteA cool take on the theme;)
