Since last month, there is a new, 40-minute journey that can be made through the historic centre of Lisbon in a cork covered, typical tram! Two symbols of Portugal - cork and tram - integrated into one!
The tram departs from a square...

runs by the Romanesque Cathedral with its twin castellated bell towers, an architectural feature that lends the building an odd military character...
and by a belvedere in the Moorish quarter, that commands a wide view...
Passengers breath in a bit of the local atmosphere as the tram runs up to the top of one of the seven hills...

At a short distance from the terminal, stands the imposing Church of St. Vincent, while a recently remodelled building is erected at the terminal spot.
Traditional trams... suitable to run up and down the hills
A modern tram ... this runs only on city's flat areas.
Hope you have enjoyed the ride...
~~ Have a wonderful weekend ~~
~~ Thanks for stopping by ~~

Marvelous pictures, Belita! I will have to visit Lisbon someday, for the colors and perfume of the flowers. To ride on the tram and especially to look at that wonderful peacock.
ReplyDeleteHi Benni! I and Lisbon are always ready and willing to welcome you....
DeleteThank you Belita. Your photos are lovely. I really liked the tram with the open roof.
ReplyDeleteHope you are well. Huggles.
Thanks for the visit and comment, Shayna!
DeleteGreat idea a special tram ...especially for tourists...I'm wondering why they changed the typical yellow colour.... in the fact, It is more noticeable... I'm sure that many people will love it... beautiful photos from lovely Lisbon
ReplyDeleteHi Viera! They have not changed the colour... the yellow ones keep on running... the cork covered ones are green-coloured as, you may know, green is no longer just a colour. It's now the symbol of ecology and cork is an eco-friendly material...
DeleteThanks for the visit and comment!
What a beautiful set of photos with each one becoming a postcard. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Robert!
