Another hot day, which means, another tough walk, yet, not feeling discouraged when I was told about the temperature forecast. Sometimes, it's good to be ignorant... you will understand later the true meaning of my words...
As I left the hotel and across the street, the above façade under the morning light drew my attention for the peculiarity of the flower pots placed on chairs.
Once again, I realized that not always do our eyes capture what surround us. I had seen that house twice on the day before and I hadn't noticed the chairs used as hanging stands...
Having left the town behind, I walked through various types of landscapes, from the typical green Galician forest to green fields and large plains. It was a long stage but the various landscapes occupied my mind.
I did my way out of the town in high spirits - I was going to succeed, the end was almost in sight and I was walking well. I enjoyed that stretch of the trek, much of which was through forest and then climbed gradually to a village.

I had some uphill sections to negotiate and test the calves, a serious challenge to my fitness, somehow, though I had built up my energy stores as the days passed...
I crossed a river just before the town of Padrón.

I passed the statue of Santiago (St. James) leaning on his staff which led me into the town of Padrón (commemorative stone if translated from Spanish into English), a small one, however, famous among pilgrims/walkers because that was the first site in Spain where St .James was said to have reached by boat.
The hotel was outside the town, which meant that I had to ask a special effort from my legs. I checked in and I went straight to my bedroom and after a shower, I felt so tired that I didn't have a full course dinner but a snack and then I took rest. On the following day, I would reach my final destination... I knew I would do it with more or less effort but I would do, without fail...
Before turning the light off I looked through the window and seeing the colour of the sky, another hot day was in my forecast...
Perhaps you feel like walking again and see as much as I did...
But prior to having you walking with me, I would like to wish you a wonderful weekend...

Hi Isabel. This is my second attempt at commenting. The first time I wrote a long comment and then I was asked to sign in to Wordpress and my long paragraph was lost. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. So this morning (before breakfast) I've travelled through the lanes and country tracks of Spain with you. In your next episode you will reach Santiago de Compostela. I can't help but think of that horrific train crash there two years ago. How did you get back to Lisbon from there? Bus or train ? Now I'm lazily thinking of buying my air tickets to and from the UK. I'm doing it in slow motion because I hate to fly and hate everything about airports. If I lived in my own house in a little country village, I don't think I'd ever want to fly again but just spend my time with my family, my dog and my plants. I will just have very few days in the UK, not enough time to do anything really but I have to go there and get back here fast to take care of everything. Well time for breakfast, Isabel. Talk to you soon. Hungry Dai
ReplyDeleteSorry, Dai, for that inconvenience beyond my control.... From Santiago I got on a non stop bus to Oporto and from Oporto to Lisbon I travelled by train. I hope you can book flights at very reasonable charges. Thanks for the visit and comment...
DeleteYour tough walk has been rewarded by the beauty of the landscape you crossed, the people you met, the animals that made you smile and the signs during your path that told you that you were close to your goal :)
ReplyDeleteI wish you a happy weekend!
Hi Edoardo! You are very right, as always.
DeleteThank you for your visit and comment which I really appreciated...
Wonderful. I, too, love the chairs used as plant hangers. I also marvel at how some of the flowers I recognize as flowers I see here, as well as some of the plants. You have inspired me to increase my daily walks. I don't know if I will ever get close to being able to do 8 hours, but I think it is very good for me. Now only if I had such a lovely countryside to walk through.
ReplyDeleteHi Benni! They were cute, weren't they? If you increase the length of your daily walk, little by little you will be surprised how far you can walk to... Of course, a good environment helps...
DeleteThanks for the visit and words!
Another wonderful section of your journey. What a great idea, to use those small chairs as plant-hangars!! More lovely countryside to admire, and I really like your photo of the irridescent blue Damselfly. Like Benni, I am not sure if I could manage such a walk, unless I got a lot of practice first!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Mitch! I believe you could if you trained it before. Long walking is part of my routine, however, one month before starting,I did increase remarkably its length.
DeleteThanks for the visit and comment!
Hi Belita, that was a wonderful walk, so peaceful and got me feeling I had gone back in time. It is so good to see some parts of our planet are still safe for now. None of the hard city and urban destruction. I did not realise you walked your journeys from one place to another. I thought you drove to your destination and wandered around seeing the beautiful sites you have shown us. I would love to be half so fit.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week my dear friend.
Huggles.
Hi Shayna! Yesss, for my fist time I did it on walking. I very much enjoyed this experience that has had no parallel with any other before. It was quite unique, therefore, I decided to name it 'unforgettable'.
DeleteOnce again, I enjoyed your company...
Thank you! Hugs back at you...
HI Belita, I have no idea how I missed this one, FB is funny with notices. I really enjoyed this stretch with you, I can imagine you being tired later. I loved the stools with flower pots on them, wonder if that have a story behind it?
ReplyDeleteWas amazed to see Maize fields, somehow I associate that with Africa always. and the windmills on the hills makes me think of Denmark, now such a familiar sight on their coastal line.
The architecture is so very old, like all over Europe, but really makes me think of France too, in the way the church and house is build of stone probably taken in situ. It all has such amazing old world charm. I can only imagine how lovely not to have traffic noise in your contemplation as you walk.
The river is quite big and wonderful blue, guess no pollution there.
Thank you for sharing with us. Hugs
Hi Marianne! I understand very well what you mention about FB. It often happens with me... Never mind, I really appreciate your company. You know, it's good not to have everyone joining at the same time. So, I could savour different moments, with different people...
DeleteMany thanks, Marianne! Hugs back at you!
What a beautiful landscape and a peaceful life...even though maybe hard...
ReplyDeleteHi Viera! Yesss, I would say it was more peaceful than beautiful. I could hear birds chirping, leaves rustling, many sounds that Nature presents us whenever we have favourable environments to listen to those symphonies...
