YESTERDAY? A CHAPEL. TODAY? A WINE BAR!

Capela Incomum (Uncommon Chapel) is the name of a wine bar that is indeed peculiar since it's located in a...chapel!!!

The altar remains there and it's one of the very few links to the religious past of the venue.

The chapel dates back to the XV century. It  has always been property of an Oporto's wealthy family, a fact that has not been negligible at the moment of turning it into a wine bar and no more for the practice of the Roman Catholic cult.

We can have coffee, tea and pastry, other than wine and assorted sausages

There are a few seats in the open air, just at the entrance, from which we can enjoy the movement of a typical street.

~~ Thanks for stopping by ~~
~~ May you all have a great start of the week ~~

  1. How interesting!! I wonder if they can turn water into wine? I saw a post by another friend of Facebook about a local church that had been de-sanctified and turned into a cafe. They had called it 'Our Daily Bread'.

    1. Hi Mitch! I have not seen them doing it, but pouring wine from a wine bottle, instead... It seems that nowadays the uncommon has become common... Thanks for commenting.

  2. Wonderful !! I love the carving of the wood of the altar. Also the cake on the red platter looks delicious. And the lemons, I will bet they are sweet. A beautiful sunny place, thank you for taking me to this place.

    1. Hi Bneni! That carving of the wood was, in Portugal, very common in the XVI and XVII centuries. I stayed there for one hour or so and I did enjoy looking at every detail. The atmosphere was cosy.
