Deadly carrot
Yesterday, the Portuguese and the international media gave extensive coverage to a plant commonly called 'deadly carrot'. Why?
Because researchers' trials have found a drug from the plant - which humans will be able to take as a pill if proven to work - could be effective against corona viruses that cause the common cold, as well as respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and influenza.
On the other hand, scientists from a UK university believe that the experimental cancer drug that is taken from 'deadly carrot' could halt Covid-19.
I had never thought of how noteworthy this plant could be...I often see it on my long walks throughout the fields near my house in the Central Mountain Region of Portugal. I guess it must spread away a sweet flavour.... insects love it...

That is amazing Belita. Wouldn't it be wonderful if this works for Covid.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is but in my opinion, still early to use fireworks...let's wait and see the progress of the researches. Thanks for visiting and commenting. You are always welcome!
DeleteI hope it will be effective.
ReplyDeleteYesss, Fatos... this nightmare seemsto have no end and we don't see any light at the end of the tunnel. Even the vaccine will not solve all the restrictions we have now. The world and our life will not be the same as before... Thanks for visiting and commenting. Highly appreciated, Fatos!
DeleteThis is interesting. I looks like a relative of a plant we call Queen Anne's Lace. One variant is poisonous, some are edible. As you say, time will tell.
ReplyDeleteHi Benni! Sorry for my belated thanks for your comment which I did appreciate, as usual.
DeleteThey do look like they were dipped in paint. Simply beautiful.
