Belly on the ground,
Head sticking out,
The pair of adult snails
In no rush glide together
Over their soft carpet.
As they listen to the sound
Of an invisible trumpet
Playing the Wedding March
They look at each other,
Happily in love,
And
Wish they could see a white dove
Showing up as a witness
At the moment they tie the knot
For a long time in their thoughts...

Beautiful painted tiles and a lovely story to go with it :-))
ReplyDeleteI saw those tiles in a faƧade of a small restaurant in Lisbon. The restaurant is called 'A Toca dos Caracois', which translated into English would be 'the den or dwelling of the snails'. The restaurant is called so due to the snails they serve as a main dish.
DeleteHow cute! I am so surprised how many snail entries there are this week. Your poem fits the tiles perfectly!
ReplyDeleteIt seems many of us like snails... thanks, Danette!
DeleteLovely painted tiles, I remember seeing many different painted tiles in Portugal. I like them.
ReplyDeleteDelightful verses.
A wonderful post my friend as always;)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Baz!
DeleteLoved that one, I once watched two snails on a path in the woods. I left them after a few minutes. I am sure if I had come back a few hours later they would still have been doing their thing.
ReplyDeleteMost probably they would...
DeleteIt is very a romantic tile art<3
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Michiko!

DeleteWe had a group travelling of road and every couple had a nick name, we were the snails. These tiles represent us very well....of road.
ReplyDeleteReally, Leonor? I would never say you are a snail-type woman but I think you are more hare-type...
