MY FEET WERE MY VEHICLE #2

A pharmacist in a village told me:
“The Way used to be a European route;
now it’s the avenue of the world.”

Here, I go again following the yellow arrows...

Despite being September/October - the low season on the trails - I happened to be surrounded by many hikers, every so often giving way to cyclists who passed on their cheerful mood and never missing the original salute buen camino (have a nice hiking).
I wondered what the trails would look like during the peak season...

Once I was walking when a donkey drew my attention to the point that I stopped for a while. Suddenly a man emerged from nowhere and after putting a rope to the halter, he walked away hand holding the rope. I got puzzled as I saw him taking the opposite direction...

Animals, flowers and plants were significant parts of my hiking days, which did not go by without seeing big or tiny creatures and  colourful flowers.

Whenever I saw an open gate, I went through it. I might find something interesting, I thought. Rarely did my curiosity deceive me, mislead me, either... It happened with the cows you see below. At that time, I didn't fear them... they were hooked on improving their current affairs knowledge by listening to the radio news (!!!) whilst they were engaged in the milking process;

I must have passed at least ten towns that would have qualified as ghost towns had it not been for one person still living there and dozens, sometimes more, dogs and cats. The dogs were used to being fed by hikers so they were quite obnoxious and so were the sheep. I don't know how to distinguish rabbits from hares but I dare thinking the ones pictured below were hares and not rabbits. Mind you, the long ears. As soon as they heard the noise of my camera they ran away very fast...

I was amazed by a couple of tables set by farmers at the entrance of their farms, on which there were drinks, fruit, coffee, cookies for "one to give the donation and if there is no money, take what you need!"
Where else do you see that?

    1. Hi Benni! That's a typical pie -in Spain called empanada - from Galicia, one of the regions I ventured through. The Spanish empanada is typically filled with fish or meat, red or green peppers, and lots of onion. I remember well... it was filled with chicken, sliced champignons, onions and red peppers. It was not spicy. Quite good. Thanks for the comment.

  3. Hi Isabel !! Thank you for continuing to take us with you on your hike. Another wonderful set of photos, particularly all the different animals and other creatures. The generosity of the farmers in leaving out food and drink for the travellers of the route is wonderful also.

    1. Hi Mitch! Not so many different species of fauna and flora as I had expected to see. As to birds, their songs broke the silence of the woods specially very early in the morning, but I could rarely see them. Thanks!
