PRAGUE: A PLAYGROUND FOR THE EYES #4 AND LAST

Let's start our last day in the charming Prague with shopping or shall I say window-shopping? Actually, Prague is not the ideal city for shopping. Even though, let's get into a souvenir shop.  Perhaps you will be fascinated by the puppets that have been a favourite Czech handicraft and storytelling vehicle since the late 18th century, and they are ubiquitous in the city.

Maybe you like bright, vibrant enamel wares - probably, every Czech kitchen has at least one or two of them - or do you prefer handmade traditional corn husk made dolls?
They are cute, interesting, small and very light-weighted...
You surely know the Czech Republic is famous for the glassware and around the city we see many shops selling Bohemian Crystal cut into vases, bowls, animals, birds and other incredible designs. Mind you, it's too risky to buy and take home. As to garnet jewellery the Czech Republic is also well-known for but, I guess, you will find the prices higher than in your home country.

Do you see that absinthe store? It's different from all the others we have seen before. It seems absinthe is everywhere in Prague. Don't you think it's a bit of a tourist cliché?

From the absinthe store we are going to walk towards a boutique that from the name 'Red Boutique' we can expect woman's clothing of vibrant colours... Would you like or not to avoid looking like Rainbow Bright ?
Let's move to some nice place and have a coffee. Look, over there you see an Art Nouveau emblem of a lascivious woman... it's a cafe-restaurant... From the façade, I guess it will be expensive... However, up to you to go or not inside...

If you like Brazilian coffee, you better step into this coffee house

After the coffee break, it's time to walk again and go to a piece of Belle Epoque Prague, the shopping arcade and atrium in Lucerna Palace with David Cerny's Wenceslas Upon Dead Horse sculpture. I was about to forget to tell you the oldest movie theatre in Europe is found inside this Palace and so is a charming antiques shop.
It was beautiful, wasn't it?
If all the walking has made you hungry, there are some smart options for a quick lunch nearby. Who feels like having lunch right now? Oh, everybody is hungry... Over there there are restaurants that look good. Let's go...

I hope all of you feel ready to go ahead with our afternoon schedule.
For a change, let's take metro and see  the flea market that isn't in the city centre but in a neighbourhood in Prague suburban area.

Many ordinary people are selling some interesting junk and jewels that they no longer need...
We still have time to visit a shopping mall and, if you love trying new things, especially exotic beauty treatments, you can try a weird one, fish pedicure...
Everything has an end and our tour is not an exception. After waving farewell to the Man on the Bench (one of its feet is missing... originally like that or has it been stolen?)...

Let's head for the airport. Flights  have their departure times and airplanes won't wait for us if we arrive late for the check-in.

As always, I was very pleased to have you along with me during
all these days.

See you again....somewhere....sometime...

Thank you!

PRAGUE: A PLAYGROUND FOR THE EYES #3

Sometimes we have not enough time to do all we would like. It was the case with me, recently.
Even though, the images of the beautiful city that Prague is, are clearly kept on my mind...

Let's wander through the city, without a specific destination.

As we walk along the medieval Charles Bridge, I guess you would like to have a quick stop and....

make a wish as you touch the shiny-like-gold spot on the bottom of one of the 30 statues that are mounted on the balustrade of the Bridge. It is supposed to bring good luck and ensure your return to Prague. Please be sure to touch the right one, not that of the dog...

When we are walking out of the bridge, we start smelling fresh bread.
It also smells sweet, like cinnamon and sugar doughnuts.
Trdelnik is one of the most common pastries to find on Prague’s streets — in fact, three-dimensional invitations to try the rolled pastry hang from storefronts throughout the city, particularly in the tourist neighborhoods.

We come upon this food stand where the so-called Trdelnik is baking. The dough is wrapped around poles and they rotate over a fire until they are cooked.

Did you like the taste? I hope you did....
Still early to have lunch and I presume none of you are tired, hungry, neither. So let's go ahead and pass by...
The Dancing Building

The Looking for Happiness Mushrooms at a small park square

The Slight Uncertainty umbrella man and umbrella woman

Wow...there's some sound of music... let's look for where it is coming from...  Oh, it's from there... Shall we stop for a while and listen to their playing Dvořák ?... It seems everyone agrees with my suggestion... Good!

After a free street concert, we shall have lunch, either at a typical restaurant ...

or at a restaurant serving international dishes....

It seems nobody complained about the choice of restaurants. If some of you don' feel like further walking, see the options at your disposal:

Why not take one of the colourful seats and...
as you have rest you look at the passers-by...

A tea and local pastry marks the end of this day...

Let's meet again, soon. In the meantime, I wish a great start of the month to whoever stops by...
