IT HAD BEEN MY DREAM...

Waking up in the morning, looking through the window and see snow had been one of my dreams until last sunday, when by 4:00 am, I woke up in Krakow (Poland) and looking down from my hotel room on a 9th floor, I saw it was snowing heavily.
Hardly could I believe my eyes!

I made myself ready and stepped out the hotel to take photos and let my eyes be delighted with such a beautiful scene.

Something I hadn't seen for ages.
Despite the low temperature, my sleepy eyes and my lack of experience with snow shots, I could never miss that unique opportunity.

On the way to the airport, the snow was falling so heavily that I wondered whether the airport would be closed in the meantime. Fortunately, not.

Losing sight of Krakow

I stopped over at Munchen airport and snow was there welcoming me...

As the plane was about to take off, this snow scene was before me...

and...
two hours and 40 minutes later, a warm sunshine was waiting for me in Lisbon.

Late in the evening, as I was watching the news, it was announced that Polish airports had been  closed.
How lucky I had been, I thought!

THE SAME SUBJECT...ONE YEAR LATER

Last week, I was in Krakow (Poland) within the scope of a project sponsored by the European Commission. Intentionally, I passed by the building of which I had taken one year before the photo below. At that moment I didn't remember well the angle, the perspective, any detail regarding it, the weather condition, either.

As of October 29, 2011

See below the photo I took one year later (October 24, 2012)

 Different, isn't it?

IMAGES & WORDS: LANGUAGE

Using our hands to express ourselves can sometimes be risky because a simple gesture can mean quite different things in different cultures. Do you know what does holding five fingers up, facing away from you may mean? Well, look at the hand below...

HAVE A NICE WEEKEND....

Marble from Portugal is historical as it's one of the most used stones in construction. The main reason for marbles use in Portuguese monuments and sculpture works  is the simplicity to polish and work the stone, whereas other stones much harder and resistant are more complicated to craft.
Geographically, Portuguese marbles can be found in the central and southern part of Portugal. However, near Lisbon, where I took the above photo, there is also a traditional spot, at which you can find a wide range of colours of marble, from beige and grey to red and yellow.

AUTUMN HAS ARRIVED IN LISBON SHOPPING DISTRICT

The unmistakable smell of roast chestnuts is a sign that autumn has arrived in Lisbon. I noticed it yesterday as I strolled in Lisbon shopping district. Chestnuts are typically eaten to celebrate Saint Martin's day on November 11, but this is a tradition that goes far beyond that special day. I saw street vendors here and there. I didn't buy any  from them because I don't like roasted chestnuts but chestnuts steamed with anise.  For my curiosity, when I asked the price for 1 dozen of roasted chestnuts, I was told they were charging €2.0.

The days are still warm but shop windows already display Autumn fashion new arrivals.
