WORDFIX AT 56 #45

Cold and ready to return back to the warmth of his apartment, after spending long hours in office,
Gary playfully walked through the streets covered with snow.
There was something about that small town that always left him charmed.
The more he spent there, the more he fell in love.
An amazing place... an incredible feeling!

WORD FIX AT 56 #44

“Do I look scared?
Of course, I do: I’ve heard my master telling Betty
 that
he’s going to take me on their summer vacation to Cambodia.
I fear being on board of a huge ‘bird’ for many hours.
Let me try to escape from this house as soon as possible.
 How? Where to?
Could any of you help me?"

WORD FIX AT 56 #39

Pepa, a Czech illustrator, has been working on an order to illustrate the cover of a book that educates children to preserve our Planet.
Her drawings are peculiar in style, but now she wants to propose something different.
She has a feeling the picture above looks good, yet a little classy. What will the editor think???

WORD FIX AT 56: #37

An American couple had inherited a cottage but didn’t know details about it. When they decided to drive to the place, all they saw was a rusting car sitting on the high grass around an abandoned cottage.
While the wife exclaimed “What an eyesore!” the husband said “What an opportunity to revive a piece of our history!”

Kay hadn’t yet decided what her hat adornment should be like so as to make her stand out from the crowd at a friend’s wedding party.
She bought hat fashion magazines but she didn’t see anything particularly attractive.
One day, as she passed by a shop-window and saw assorted feather dusters, she said to herself: "Eureka"!

WORD FIX AT 56 #35

William, a solitary man, lived in a small village on the coast of Ireland.
One night, as he was feeling  lonesome,
William stepped out of his cocoon to gaze up at the sky.
He eagerly wanted to make a wish on either a shooting star or a red bird.
Only seagulls were flying over the ocean...

WORD FIX AT 56 #33

NOT A FOX BUT A WOLF!

Driving on a secondary road, I noticed something emerging amidst  the shrubs.
I slowed down, thinking to myself ‘It’s a fox’.
As the ‘fox’ saw the car, he crossed the road running.
Looking at the shape, size and colour, it was a wolf, for sure.
When I told my friends, they asked me: “Was he fat?”

WORD FIX AT 56 #31

At my childhood time, a girl riding a bike wasn’t socially accepted.
Why wasn’t I born much later?
Now that I’m over 80, I’ve no other option but watching
 funny comedy films
 with
scenes of old ladies who can ride a bike anywhere and do anything on it ...
How I howl with laughter and... envy!

A REPLICA???

During her third year studying for a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Egyptology, Natasha won a four month Research Scholarship to the Museum where a sculpture representing Anubis, probably the coolest Egyptian god, was on permanent display. She believed she would be able to prove that sculpture was a replica, not the real one...

WORD FIX AT 56 #29

RAIN FALLING WITH LOVE
Abdulah is miles away from everything that he had known during his whole life: the desert with camels and tents, hot days, chilly nights but... no rain at all! When he turned his back on all that, to marry the European woman he loved, he immigrated to Bosnia. Rain has become part of his daily routine...

Money wasn't the problem...
Cindy had often thought about buying a new laptop but prices were too high for her budget.
One day, she passed by a megastore that was selling laptops at superb prices. Even though, she didn’t buy one. All had giant swelling red sun wallpapers...
A few days before, her own house had gone up on flames!

WORD FIX AT 56: #27

THE TREE OF PEACE
Miriam, a senior guide at a museum, was providing a wealth of information about a particular painting to a group of Japanese tourists. Suddenly, she was interrupted by one of them: “Excuse me, Madame. Sunset Cliffs, San Diego, engraved in the name plate is incorrect.
I’m from Hiroshima. My father planted that tree to celebrate
 PEACE!”

WORD FIX AT 56 ~ #26

THE AMULET PHOTO

Mary had saved all her photos in albums.
The amulet picture she was looking for was one of them. It had been taken at the Cairo Museum, during one of her trips to Egypt.
After many years, the picture was faded, unfocused, with a strong yellow tinge.
Luckily, the negative had been kept in a shoebox.

PUPPY LOVE????

If that bench in wood could speak, it would have many funny stories to tell.
However, there’s one the bench would never unveil: when one day a little girl sat so close to a little boy.
Had she sneaked a kiss or tried to bite his chin?
If you knew the answer, this might surprise you...

LOOK AT ME!

Jobless and discouraged, Pepe went out wearing his son’s short shorts.
He stood for a long while at the same place.
Nobody noticed him until he saw Pablo, a circus manager, staring at him and saying:
What a laughably awful look!!!
Two days later...
Pepe was seen attending a buffoon training course, at Pablo's circus company...

Mike, the child, loved watching a black cat

carrying her babies around in her mouth, careful

and meticulously.

Mike, the adult, set up The Black Cat, a removals

company, featuring that unforgettable scene in its

logo and beneath it

Get your furniture out without a single scratch.

Mike always believed  black felines would bring
good luck...

WORD FIX AT 56 #21

THE ANSWER SHE WILL NEVER GET...

She had been rummaging in the attic, when she came across a large box containing photos taken by her late husband, an amateur photographer.
A stiff mauve paper folder caught her curiosity. A sticker attached to the front cover read
The World Steam Locomotives Photo Contest - 1st Prize!
Why hadn't he ever told her about it???

THE WINNING POSTER

She doesn’t like the image of her in the winning poster that will be on display before, during and after the annual flower festival.
The blue-tinted editing makes her look cool* with sad eyes.
Who would believe she’s now happy after several years of unhappiness?
So many photos of her had been taken at the studio...

I HATE IT!

See how ridiculous I look: lipstick applied to my lips, emerald contact lenses to change my eyes colour, a frilled lace bonnet hiding my shiny fair hair plus a feather boa/an ermine fur stole  –  my mother isn’t sure how to call it - altogether making me look not myself but a miniature adult. I hate it! ©Belita
